Ch Abbey Road's Black Tie Affair (aka: Oscar) was produced by Kathryn Nibley of Abbey Road Bullmastiffs. Like Kathryn, we also had a love affair with Ken and Debbie Vargas' (Storybook Bullmastiffs) stunning male, BIS BISS Allstar's Mugsy Malone, GROM (aka: Mugsy).  She planned a very tight line breeding to him with her beautiful bitch, Honey (Am/Can/Mex/Intl Ch Allstar's Hot Honey Harlow, CROM). This litter is the tightest breeding that Mugsy has every produced. From it, came only two puppies - Oscar and his fawn brother, Cosmo (Ch Abbey Road's Full Moon Fever). These two litter brothers attained Top 10 status in very limited shows.

There were more things about Oscar that we liked, than what we didnt like. He presented a very nice picture and his movement was spectacular! This dog moved out with purpose and attitude. He knew he was "HOT STUFF". Oscar was extremely intelligent  and dominant in nature. He was a Bullmastiff with a very sly manipulative personality. Considering he was our first intact male - we made many innocent mistakes by unknowingly reinforcing undesired ("cute") behaviour patterns. Whoops - we created a dog who thought he was equal to the human. He taught us many lessons in training and behaviour. (It was because of Oscar that we modified our neonate imprinting techiniques to more intensive methods.) Tragically, we lost Oscar at the tender age of 22 months. He died of heatstroke while in the care of a boarding kennel. We sued the facility, got our judgement and successfully helped to shut them down.

If there was any consolation in this entire ordeal, it was in knowing we had already begun the process of storing his semen for future breedings. We would never have done this if not for our friend, Mike Carnegie (Blackwatch Bullmastiffs) who recommended we do so after he unkowningly lost fertility in his male, Buster (Tailwynde's Sudden Impact) due to mycoplasma.

Oscar  was a once in a life time dog - we were blessed to have him in our lives!

(Sorry, Oscar's semen is not available for public service)
